I gather all the flowers

Unearthed another one and re-arranged it (a little) in the poetry vase 🙂

I gather all the flowers,

thrown to me–the fatigued blooms,

ancient barbs still attached,

the sprightly young buds

cavaliered by ticklish maidenhair fern,

I breathe them in–

all you have thrown to me,

pressed against my reluctant heart,

and after every beat,

I let them slip through my hands,

onto the bare floor at my feet.

I gather all the flowers
